Deleting your Facebook and Instagram data
How Morrie handles data from Facebook and Instagram, and how to have it removed.
Morrie helps cricket clubs post to their own Facebook Page and Instagram account. A club admin connects the club's Page by signing in with Facebook and choosing the Page. This page explains what Morrie keeps because of that connection, and the three ways to have it deleted.
What Morrie stores
- The Page's access token: the key Facebook gives Morrie so it can post to the club's Page and its linked Instagram account. It is stored encrypted. While someone is still choosing which Page to connect, Morrie also holds the token from their Facebook sign-in, until the Page is chosen.
- Which Page and Instagram account: the Facebook Page's id and name, and the linked Instagram business account's id and username.
- Who connected it: the Facebook user id Facebook gives Morrie for the person who connected the Page (an id for Morrie only, not your profile). It is kept so a deletion request from that person can be matched to the right club.
- The club's posts and their numbers: for posts on the club's Page and Instagram, the post id, link, caption and when it was posted, with the insights Facebook reports for it (reach, views, likes, comments, shares and saves).
- Audience totals: the Page's and account's follower counts, and totals by city, age group and gender. Never a list of followers.
- Comments and mentions: comments left on the club's own posts in the last 30 days (the commenter's name and message), and posts that tag or mention the club (the author's username and the post's link), so the club can answer questions and share them.
- The Page's look: when the Page is first connected, its profile picture, cover photo and About text may be copied in as the club's logo, header photo and description, if the club hadn't set its own.
Morrie never sees or stores your Facebook password, your friends, your private messages or your personal profile.
1. Disconnect in Morrie
A club admin signs in to Morrie and goes to Club → Club settings → Integrations → Meta (Facebook & Instagram), then presses Disconnect.
Disconnecting deletes the stored tokens straight away, along with the Page and Instagram details and the id of the person who connected it. Morrie can no longer post to the Page or read anything from it. The records of posts already made and their numbers stay as part of the club's history; to have those deleted too, email us (below).
2. Remove Morrie in Facebook's settings
Anyone who connected a Page to Morrie can remove it from their own Facebook account: in Facebook, open Settings & privacy → Settings, then Business integrations (or Apps and websites, depending on your account), find Morrie and remove it. Facebook's labels change from time to time.
Facebook then tells Morrie, and Morrie deletes the connections that person made, including their tokens, automatically. The club's admins are told so they know why posting stopped. If you also ask Facebook to delete your data from Morrie, Facebook gives you a confirmation code and a link to a page here showing what was done.
3. Ask us by email
Anyone can ask for their Facebook and Instagram data to be deleted by emailing support@morrie.io with the subject “Delete my Facebook data”. Tell us the club, the Facebook Page or Instagram account, and the confirmation code if Facebook gave you one. We'll confirm when it's done, within 30 days. A club that wants all of its data deleted, not just what came from Facebook, can ask the same way.
