How to use Morrie with Claude or ChatGPT
Updated
The short answer
Add Morrie to Claude or ChatGPT as a custom connector with the address https://morrie.io/api/mcp, sign in to Morrie and press Allow, and the assistant can answer from your club's real fixtures, results, posts, sponsors and To-do. It drafts team sheets, posts, emails and proposals in Morrie for a person to check, and it never posts, sends, charges or deletes anything on its own.
What it's for
A club secretary already has an AI assistant open for emails and minutes. The connector lets that assistant read the club's own data in Morrie rather than guessing, and save its work back into Morrie where the committee checks things: the post queue, Email drafts, the proposals list, the committee minutes.
It follows each person's own Morrie role: a viewer can ask questions, an editor or admin can also have it draft, and Morrie's own staff see only the parts of Admin their role covers. Using Morrie from an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT comes with every plan (Starter, Growth and All-Rounder), with no add-on.
Ten prompts worth using
The full list, grouped, with Copy buttons and how often each is worth asking, is on the Use Morrie with an AI assistant page in Morrie, under your name beside Help.
- What's on this weekend?: "What's on this weekend? List every game with its time and venue, and which team sheets are still to do." (weekly, thursday or friday)
- Draft team sheets: "Draft team sheets for all our grades this Saturday from the selected squads; flag anyone named in two teams on the same day." (weekly)
- What's waiting to post: "What's waiting to post or held back, and why?" (daily)
- Weekend results and wrap post: "Summarise this weekend's results across all grades and draft the weekend wrap post." (weekly, sunday or monday)
- Milestones coming up: "Which players are close to milestones (games, runs, wickets) in the next two rounds?" (weekly)
- How each sponsor is tracking: "How is each sponsor tracking: exposure, posts, and what we promised against what we delivered?" (monthly)
- Unpaid subs: "Who hasn't paid subs yet? Draft a friendly reminder. Add my Morrie email signature." (monthly in season)
- Monthly newsletter: "Draft this month's newsletter from our results, news, events and sponsors. Add my Morrie email signature." (monthly)
- Sort my sponsor emails: "Go through my inbox from the last 7 days: find emails from our sponsors, sponsor prospects and enquiries, label them in Gmail (Morrie/Sponsors, Morrie/Prospects), log each to its Morrie record, update deal stages where it's clear, set follow-ups, and draft replies for anything waiting on us. Add my Morrie email signature." (weekly)
- Work through my To-do: "Go through my To-do: handle what you can as drafts, snooze what can wait, and list what only I can do, with links." (daily)
What it can't do, and why that's safe
- Drafts only: a card it drafts waits in the post queue held for a person to tap Post; an email waits in Email drafts; a proposal isn't shared until someone sends the link.
- The few things it can send from Morrie, such as a sponsorship email, vote link texts or invites, first show exactly what will go and only happen when the person says yes.
- It can't see emergency contacts or private links, and juniors without a guardian's consent are shown by initials, as on public cards.
- Every request is logged with who made it, and every change is on the club's Recent changes, where most can be put back.
- Connecting Facebook and Instagram, and taking payments, always need the person to tap the link in Morrie themselves.
With your other connectors
With a Gmail connector the assistant can sort sponsor emails onto their Morrie records and draft replies in Gmail; with Google Drive it can build the annual report, a sponsor's renewal deck or a season stats sheet from Morrie's data; with Google Calendar it can add your fixtures and committee meetings. Morrie never reads your mailbox or writes to your Drive or calendar itself.
How to connect it
- In Claude on a computer, open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector; in ChatGPT, open Settings and look for Connectors or Apps. Availability depends on the assistant's plan.
- Name it Morrie and paste https://morrie.io/api/mcp as its address.
- Press Connect. Morrie opens: sign in, check it's the right account, and press Allow.
- In a chat, turn Morrie on from the tools menu and copy a prompt from Morrie's Use Morrie with an AI assistant page.
- To stop, disconnect Morrie in the assistant's own settings.
Common questions
Does it cost extra?
Using Morrie from an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT comes with every plan (Starter, Growth and All-Rounder), with no add-on.
Can it post to our Facebook and Instagram?
No. It saves the card and its caption in Morrie, held for a person to check and tap Post. Morrie's own scheduled posts carry on as before.
Does it work with apps other than Claude and ChatGPT?
It's a standard MCP connector with OAuth sign-in, so any assistant that takes a custom MCP connector can use it. Prompt lists show in some apps and not others; the full list is always on Morrie's own help page.
